Commissioning physiotherapy from Thrive
Information for local authorities, NHS services, schools, colleges, care providers, and case management companies commissioning specialist physiotherapy.
Thrive Physiotherapy delivers specialist physiotherapy in homes, schools, colleges, and care settings across South East London and Kent. We work with children, young people, and adults with neurodisability, complex physical needs, and sensory processing differences.
We deliver commissioned provision in education settings, including regular on-site physiotherapy across a cohort and EHCP-named provision, with termly outcome measurement and annual reporting.
Who commissions us
SEND and adult social care teams commissioning therapy provision for named individuals or across a cohort.
Commissioned community provision, waiting list support, and specialist input where local capacity is limited.
Ongoing sessional provision, EHCP delivery, and staff training, funded from school or high needs budgets.
Falls prevention programmes, individual handling plans, and compliance training across care settings.
Grant-funded programmes and community provision.
Ongoing therapy for case-managed clients, delivered within litigation and case management frameworks.
What can be commissioned
Regular on-site sessions across a cohort, with a named clinician and continuity of care.
Independent physiotherapy advice for assessment and annual review, and delivery of provision named in Section F.
Defined blocks for named individuals, commonly two blocks across an academic year.
Manual handling training, individual handling plans, and competency records for staff teams.
Assessment, group programmes, and outcome reporting for care and community settings.
How commissioning works
We discuss the need, the setting, and roughly what scale of provision would meet it.
We set out what we would deliver, how often, and what it would cost.
A written service agreement covering scope, frequency, reporting, and review.
Provision begins, with outcomes measured and reported at the agreed intervals.
Measuring and reporting outcomes
What we measure and how often we report is agreed at the start of a contract. Individual goals are set with the person receiving therapy and, where appropriate, their family. Service-level outcomes are agreed with the commissioner.
Individual progress is measured using Goal Attainment Scaling, with condition-specific standardised outcome measures selected to match each person's presentation and goals.
Goals set with the young person and family, measured termly, with written reporting for annual review.
Service-level outcomes agreed with the provider, which may include falls incidence, mobility and transfer measures, or staff confidence, reported at the end of each block.
Goals set at assessment and measured at the end of the block, with a written summary.
Practical information
We take on commissioned provision at a minimum of one day per fortnight. Smaller arrangements are available as individual session blocks rather than ongoing provision.
Provision is delivered by a named clinician. Cover is arranged for planned and unplanned absence so provision continues rather than pausing.
All clinicians are HCPC registered and enhanced DBS checked, working under the supervision of our clinical leads. Thrive holds professional indemnity and public liability insurance and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
South East London and Kent as standard. Wider travel is available for specialist provision and is agreed before work begins.
